Vinod Gupta Provides Educational Opportunities

Vinod Gupta came from humble beginnings. He grew up in a small village about a hundred miles north of New Delhi in India. Vinod Gupta was accepted into the Indian Institutes of Technology and later completed his Master’s in agricultural engineering in the U.S.

While working at Commodore Corporation, Gupta identified a hole in the market and developed a service-based product that was ideal for business-to-business communication on a national scale. With a hundred-dollar loan from the bank, Gupta turned his idea into a multi-million-dollar company.

Currently, Gupta is a Managing General Partner for Everest Group. The group provides venture capital, private equity, and consulting services to failing companies in database technology. Gupta says he is fortunate enough to be able to give back to those who do not have access to education. He has donated money to a Women’s Polytechnic School and designated funds to set up a girls’ school in his hometown.

He, also, donated money to establish the Vinod Gupta School of Management. The school is recognized as one of the top schools within India and the Asia-Pacific area. Later, Gupta established the Rajiv Gandhi School of Intellectual Property Law in collaboration with George Washington University. The school helps bridge technology, law, and the global economy.

Gupta’s donations include creating scholarship opportunities for individuals with limited access to education funds. He established the Benjamin Kane Gupta Fellows Program which provides internship opportunities for individuals within the Department of State, and the Ben Gupta Endowed Fund for International Legal Education which offers educational support to individuals from developing countries.

Over the past decade, Gupta has donated over 50 million dollars to help individuals gain access to education through the development of schools, programs, and scholarships. Gupta explains that giving and helping others brings him joy. See This Article for more information.
